After Care and Lid Hygiene

Updated: Jan 2, 2019

If you've ever been to a lash studio or lash artist who has told you they don't believe in aftercare or they sell you a home made lash shampoo, turn and run in the other direction.

At Winx Lash Studio your lid, eye and lash hygiene is our top priority. It may seem trivial because normally you don't buy an eyelash cleanser and go to town in the shower every night. However, you do probably wash your face and carelessly wash over your eye area but once you have lash extensions a lot of people avoid this task in fear they will ruin them.

Firstly lets be real, the biggest enemy of lash extensions is oil. Eyelashes, just like the hair on your head can become oily and this secretes from the root. The root is where the lash extension is bonded to the hair so you can imagine if the environment is oily the lash extensions will slide right off. Introducing a lash cleanser into your daily routine not only keeps your lashes clean and shiny but it makes them last longer. Optometrist attribute a few eye infections and problems to poor eye hygiene alone. Some of these issues are incurable once contracted. This is why its extremely important to buy a lash cleanser to clean debris and bacteria from the eye.

A lot of home lash artist make their own cleanser. This is normally a mixture of baby shampoo, distilled water and bicarb soda. Stay away from these DIY cleansers. Baby shampoo is not designed for long term use on the eye and contains fragrances and additives that are not tested for long term use.

At Winx all new clients are sent home with an after care kit to maintain those gorgeous lashes. If you would like to know more, get in touch.
