So you might have got your first set of lashes ever and now two weeks later they've all fallen out or you may have had lashes for a long time and all of a sudden your retention sucks! So whats going on?!
Eyelash extensions are divas, we all know that. They hate oil, moisture and can change their mind quicker than James McEvoy in Split. We can be quick to blame our lash tech for a pre-mature fall out but sometimes there are other forces at place. The first thing to look for First you want to check that the lashes are secured to your lash properly and that the base of the silk lash is attached firmly to your natural lash. If you can see and lifting of the bottom of the silk eyelash extension this is improper application and may just be due to lack of experience. Mention it to you lash tech next time your in. At Winx Lash & Brow Studio we cleanse and rinse the eye with specified lash cleansers and an eye safe rinse before every eyelash extension appointment. If you've noticed your lash tech is not doing this this could be the reason for poor retention. Lastly if your lash tech has told you to use baby shampoo or sold you a home made concotion which usually consists of watered down baby shampoo mixed with bicarb soda this will contribute to early lash fall out and is also unsafe for use on the eye area.
It's not me, it's you.
Oddly enough lash extensions can react not only to topical creams such as oily concealers and foundation, liquid liner, mascara and fake tan but they can also react to medications we put in our bodies such as:
Fish Oil
Krill Oil
Magnesium
Insulin
Birth Control (only some!) Blood pressure medication
If you are taking insulin or blood pressure medication eyelash extensions may be a lost cause for you and you may notice that acrylic or shellac nails are quick to peel off too. I advise clients taking these medications to switch to an eyelash enhancing serum such as Grande Lash MD and switch over to Curl Perfect Lash Lifts.
If you are experiencing premature eyelash extension fall out always discuss it with your lash tech to narrow down what could be causing the problem.
